My most recent body of work, a series of large graphite drawings, has developed out of a desire to create works which rely on the most simple tools and ideas. Many of these drawings are created using only one shape or form repeated countless times. Others use simple form to create a specific pattern which is then itself repeated. They all employ the use of a simple graphite pencil and a large rectangular piece of paper. By stripping the work of subject matter and simplifying the form and concept, I am able to open a door to endless possible perceptions for the viewer. This process also allows for me to explore other interests including architecture, spatial patterns and relationships, and causes and effects of my own obsessive and compulsive tendencies. I am also continually working on a smaller series of drawings which allow me to explore a different method of creating and force me to work "in the moment".
